Halo: 5 NEW "Hammer Storm" Map pack expansion releases THIS WEEKEND for FREE!

The latest instalment in the franchise; Halo: 5 is getting more DLC to add to it's feature list in the form of the games 3rd free add-on pack: Hammer Storm.

Halo has for a very long time been at the forefront of FPS on consoles, ever since the original title 'Halo: Combat Evolved' launched on Xbox back in 2001 it has been a driving force in competitive gameplay on consoles; even being one of the major factors in the popularisation of Xbox live with Halo 2's multiplayer as an evolution of LAN gameplay. Pistols on High Noon you Noob!

The current iteration of the series is no different, being a hub of competitive and social gaming for games of all stripes and consoles. One of the most compelling factors that can keep you interested in a game besides good mechanics is additional content; it seems 343 knows this, which is why not only is there a slew of maps being released with more to come in future; but they're all completely free of charge!

Already released DLC packs for Halo: 5 include 'Battle of Shadow and Light' with 4 new maps and 'The Cartographer's Gift' which added Forge mode as well as several additional maps. This new add-on to the multiplayer fun is called 'Hammer Storm' and was demonstrated by the 343 team during a Twitch live stream.

If you don't particularly fancy viewing the entire livestrem then a short summary of the additions as quoted from 'Gamespot' can be found below:

"The expansion includes a new map for Arena called Torque, as well as new gametypes like Fiesta, Assault, and the fan-favorite (sic) Grifball. Players can also expect a variety of new Reqs, including the Gravity Hammer. Additionally, the new Decimator and Marauder armor sets come to the game with the update." - Gamespot

This is part of content updates that 343 intend to keep releasing until June of this year. The 'Hammer Storm' has been confirmed to be released before this weekend and a Tweet from their verified account showed off all the newly added REQ's.

So,  what do you guys think? Is this enough to keep you playing for now, maybe even reason enough to pick up the game again after getting bored? Let us know in the comments below and as always:

BATTLEBORN For Newbies Quick OVERALL

Gamers

I have been waiting for this one for a very long time and to be honest at the start i thought it would be PC only. Like most people my PC is shocking its plays League of legends and that about it HOWEVER the good news is that it is coming to the consoles for all to enjoy. From the creators of Borderlands, GearBox had alot to live up to with Battleborn. What i have seen this game looks actually AWESOME and i am so excited to get my hands on some of the characters to go round smashing up and destroying stuff. It seems that instead of following a storyline as such they are concentrating more on a strategic MOBA style game with alot of characters to choose from with alot of different abilities 25 characters to be exact. (with im sure added ones when the game becomes more popular)

Like most MOBAs there will be a set of minions on your side and set of minions on the other trying to battle it out to get to the enemies base for the victory. The character you are playing will slowly gain experience starting from a low level gather XP to become stronger and gain more abilities over the length of the game. Instead of the standard earn some coins and by some gear throughout the match and then losing it, you will have the chance to create loadouts which you will find the gear throughout the game in Loots packs which can be brought out of the game or found in the game with different rarity's of gear and loot packs. (hopefully this doesn't lead to people buying the best gear and being OP from the word go)

There will be 3 types of games you can play in coop the standard capture the objective to earn points called Devastation, the lane pushing help you minions tactical kind of game called Incursion and Meltdown is a game style based around helping your minions commit suicide into the incinerator. No one cares for the minions.

The game's characters are split into 5 factions:

The Last Light Consortium

The mostly-cybernetic LLC is the greatest economic power left in the universe, defined by a relentless pursuit of profit, no matter the cost. Once a constituent body of the United Peacekeeping Republics, the LLC abandoned the coalition when it became clear that principles and purpose did little to contribute to the bottom line. Owns and operates Minion Robotics, the largest weapons manufacturer still standing.

The Eldrid
A naturalistic order of observers and scientists, charged with the stewardship of the natural order of the cosmos. Long ago, the reach of the legendary Eldrid spanned entire galaxies -- but as the stars themselves have faded into darkness, so too has the might of this ancient faction. As all eyes turn to Solus, what remains of the Eldrid are grappling with their place in a darkening universe as they rally in defense of the Last Star.

 The Rogue
The unaffiliated free peoples of Solus, colloquially known as the Rogues: misfits, renegades, and survivalists answering to no one. The Rogues make their home in the Detritus Rings, far from the squabbling of the other factions – but they too will have a part to play in determining the fate of the Last Star.

 United Peacekeeping Republics
A collection of civilizations banded together under the banner of mutual protection, freedom, and equality, the nomadic UPR – like the other factions – now find themselves in Solus with no home to call their own. Though recently crippled by the secession of one of their strongest constituents, the Last Light Consortium, the UPR remains nonetheless committed to their idealistic sense of justice.

The Jennerit Imperium
The mighty Jennerit Imperium once led the fight against the Varelsi, forging alliances with the other factions to save the stars from the void. But in a desperate turn to spare his people from the darkness, the warlord Lothar Rendain staged a coup to seize control of the Imperium, and aligned its destiny with that of the Varelsi. Though the Jennerit have lost much in their struggle, they remain one of the strongest military forces in Solus.

How these factions affect the gameplay or the abilities i do not know but we shall see when the game is being played by the masses. Here is a little gameplay video for you to make your own opinions.....

What do you guys think? Will you be playing this badboiii of a game because i know i will.

Fallout 4 MOD SUPPORT THIS ARPIL!!

Bethesda games have a long standing history with modding communities. Fallout 4 is no exception, with fans so desperate to tweak and alter the game several fans have struggled through making the changes without any developer support up until this point.

So far the previous popular Bethesda titles such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 3 have received developer created modding tools in the form of creation kits (G.E.C.K in the case of fallout for the fans) which allow modders to change various aspects of the experience.

In an interview with Gameinformer, Fallout 4 Director Todd Howard spoke about upcoming DLC for Fallout 4 as well as announcing that the modding tools for Fallout 4 would be releasing this April. The most exciting part? Not only are the modding tools coming very soon, but not long behind the PC release is a console release, that's right, modding being accessible from the console version of the game, which would make a first for video gaming in general.
"[Mod Support] will go up at that time on PC. In April,"

Said Todd Howard before also revealing that:

"It'll probably be a good month before it hits Xbox One, and another month for PlayStation 4."

As a final cherry on the Fallout cake, Todd spoke about the survival mode coming to the game which isn't "months and months" away, though he would not provide a more concrete time. On the matter he said:

"Survival mode has a lot of changes that can be pretty dramatic. Once we get it honed where it's working well enough, we're going to put it on Steam beta for a while. 'Here it is. Start playing it. Give us feedback.' It's far easier to update and iterate on [PC]. Once we settle on it, then we'll release it for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One."

Don't worry about burning in nuclear fire; I#m the one who give you permission to fry.
A specially designed piece of Wayne industries tech designed to cover up the protagonists ass at any cost. ;)

So there it is, what do you think? Do you look forward to seeing what mods can come out providing new and interesting content? Do you just want to dress as batman in post-apocalyptia or do you just want to get to the DLC already? Either way let us know in the comments and as always:

So there you have it, though comment sections on news sites around the net are already reporting on how this doesn't address some key concerns of the users; such as this comment by a Facebook user.

The two issues I am still bugging me is still not fix, the TV glitch and Vault 81 citizen not being not able to join my settlement when she wants to. -Facebook Commentor

So what do you think? Is this likely to convince you to pick up the game? Or is this a band aid on a severed limb hemorrhaging blood? Why not pick up the patch and let us know in the comments below and until next time;

Far Cry Primal RELEASED TODAY!!! Xbox one and PS4 (23/02/16)

Gamers

So there has been alot of hype when it comes to Far Cry Primal like any of the Far Cry games that are released. Now if you're a fan of this game series then you would already know all there is to know about what is expected from this Far Cry. Just incase you missed it here is the official trailer.

Now this game looks awesome with the taming of pets (Bears,Sabres, Wolfs, Owls and bests of all Skunks) to shooting a bow into the back of someones head (stealthy style of course). Ubisoft never seem to disappoint on a good plot and here is what we know about where the game is heading other than finding rare animals to skin so that you can wear them.

The game is set in 10,000 BCE in central Europe in the Oros Valley. A place full of nature and tripes trying to kill one another in a battle for survival and supremacy. You or we take the role of a tribesman named Takkar who has recently had the misfortune of being ambushed losing all his gear, his weapons and his pride. Lucky though he finds that oh wait i can tame animals now i have been ambushed and will use this skill to be the biggest and the best tribe leader out there. Below is the moment Takkar realises that if he holds he hands up like he is trying to warm them over a fire and hold square he can tame beasts. If only he knew this before the ambush his best friend his nan and his mom would all still be alive. At least when the other tribes people have the annual fire dance he can rock up with barry the bear.

The game has been development so melee weapons are the main source of defensive whereas bows and spears are the ranged weapon types. Weapons can not be purchased and can only be crafted and maintained by collecting the raw materials in the wilderness with barry and creating the weapons yourself. As the day and night cycle gameplay kicks in different animals and tribes will become more aggressive making gameplay in day and night different and so will the tactics change. Using fire to light the way and to protect during the night and using stealth during the day. Takkar also has a trusty owl that will show you the way using the owls vision to highlight enemies and to scout out enemy outposts.

For all you PC people the game will be available to you on March 1st 2016 which i don't quite understand however there must be a few bugs they need to tame before they send it out. (<<<<< JOKE). For thous of you that are quite skeptical of the whole thing here is a nice gameplay video for you lets not forget to support our youtubers.

So what do you think guys comment and tell me your thoughts. I have threw some links in here for you just incase you get some overwhelmed with the whole game and need to play it.

The Walking Dead: Michonne RELEASES TOMORROW

After much allusion and several months of waiting the trailer for the newest instalment in Telltale's The Walking Dead series has finally been released! The first episode called "In Too Deep" releases tomorrow on the 23/02/2016 in true abrupt Telltale fashion. But what can we learn from the freshly released launch trailer?

Well I just settled down to watch it with the Mrs. and I have to say in my humble reptilian opinion, it leaves a rather luke-warm if not bland sensation on the palette.

Now, full disclosure; at this point Telltale have made such a fanboy out of me that they could produce a five part series about an algebra teacher struggling to get his students grades up and I'd likely run out and purchase the season pass for the content. Having said that, while I thoroughly enjoy all things Telltale, and think their current two seasons of The Walking Dead are more than worth the accolades they've accrued; including VGX Award for Game of the Year 2012, I have never as of yet been able to stomach the associated TV show.

This is likely due to my attention span and the shows slow opening from what I've been told and it seems to me that this new instalment for The Walking Dead has been made in much the same vein. This is especially apparent as Michonne herself is as a quick Google search told me a character who has had a major role already within the canon of The Walking Dead's universe.

As such the new trailer... Oh wait those are spoilers. Why not check out the trailer below by yourself first so we can discuss it?

We on the same page now? Yes? Brilliant, as I was saying...

The new trailer seems to show the new Walking Dead episodic adventure leaning quite heavily on character development for Michonne, perhaps delving into her past and exploring her character for those who are familiar with her from the show.

The action element seems fairly downplayed here but it is worth noting that this trailer is specifically for episode one and as such is unlikely to be representative of the whole finished experience. The question remains however; will this adventure prove to be as interesting to those who don't watch the show such as myself, and will this impact the future of other Walking Dead games from Telltale.

As demonstrated from the trailer above, The Walking Dead: Michonne. Unlike any Telltale project to date is a mere 3 episodes long and serves as a spin off to the mainline of the series.

The new game will release on:

  • Xbox 360
  • Xbox One
  • PS3
  • PS4
  • PC (Steam)
With the developer intending to release a Version for IOS and Android in the near future.

Will you be getting this new game tomorrow at launch or will you wait for the reviews first? Are you excited to learn more about this character or is this a misstep for Telltale? Let us know what you think in the comments, we'll let you know our verdict after playing. In the mean time:

Gears of War 4 to be a "Graphical Showcase"

Speaking in the latest edition of Official Xbox Magazine, Gears of War 4 Producer Rob Fergusson proudly boasted that the game will be a "Graphical Showcase" for the Xbox One console when it releases.

Due out at some point in the fall this year Gears of War 4 is expected by Fergusson to reproduce the feat previously managed by the original title of the series; being a demonstration of good visual quality for the hardware it is designed for, at the time of release at least.

"Like how the original Gears of War was a visual showcase for the Xbox 360, Gears of War 4 will be a graphical showcase for the Xbox One" - Rob Fergusson

He went on to reference how other recent titles in the Gears of War line-up have taught the team valuable lessons with regards to graphical quality, specifically frame rate:
"Delivering [with Ultimate Edition] the first 60fps multiplayer experience in franchise history really taught us a lot about what it means to have a 60fps culture on the team and we're leveraging that experience for Gears of War 4" -Rob Fergusson

So there you have it, high expectations for the game are now justified, we'll have to wait and see if the game can live up to the producer's expectations or will be just another example of Molyneux syndrome. Either way there shouldn't be too long to wait as a Beta is expected to launch in the next few months with guaranteed access to fans who pre-ordered Gears of war Ultimate edition.

Let's hope the expectations hold up to reality, now we play the waiting game I guess, so I say to you:

Vive VR Headset priced at $800 (£562)

The Valve and HTC Vive VR headset has at long last released it's pricing information as well as a release window.

The Vive VR which aims to serve as the competitor for the now more ubiquitous Oculus Rift VR headset is aiming to release in "early April" this year with a price tag of $799 (£562). This puts the new hardware at a significant disadvantage right out of the gate as the product cost $200 dollars more than the Oculus without the same level of sustained media hype feeding it's reputation.

To start with the VR is only shipping to the following countries:

U.S.
Canada
U.K.
Germany
France
Austria
Belgium
Czech Republic
Denmark
Finland
Iceland
Italy
Netherland
Norway
Poland
Spain
Switzerland
Ireland
Sweden
Taiwan
China
Japan
Australia
New Zealand.

The VR headset is reported to be bundled with the games 'Job Simulator' and 'Fantastic Contraption'. The product itself is supposed to ship with an internal microphone, "Lighthouse" Lazserteam base stations for motion tracking as well as a controller for each hand.

The product is intended to be used with games powered by Steam VR and judging by comments taken from interviews with Palmer Lucky the creator of the Oculus Rift; this product was developed with at least some insight taken from the development of Lucky's product.

So what do you think? Are we finally entering a world where VR is as common as an Xbox Kinect? or is this just another cash sink that's not going much further than the Virtual Boy did back in the day? If you don't remember Virtual boy, why not see what angry gamer had to say on the matter?

Whatever your view, I for one look forward to the day I can scurry around on a Holodeck and bask on a hot rock without having to deal with any real predacious threat. Until then; I'm heading back on Borderlands: The Handsome Collection to finish off the last few trophies, come back for more news soon and as always:

Gamers,

Let's Play.
